2. Primary Function: High-Level Disinfection and Sterilization

Glutaraldehyde 50% is renowned for its potent, broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. It is effective against:

Bacteria (including tubercle bacilli and antibiotic-resistant strains)

Viruses (both enveloped and non-enveloped, such as HIV, HBV, and coronaviruses)

Its major advantage is that it achieves sterilization (the complete elimination of all microorganisms, including spores) with prolonged immersion time (typically 10+ hours), and high-level disinfection (elimination of all microorganisms except high numbers of bacterial spores) with shorter contact times (e.g., 20-45 minutes), all without requiring heat.

3.Applications

Water Treatment:Used as a potent biocide in industrial cooling water systems, oilfield water injection systems, and pipelines to control microbial growth (bacteria, algae, sulfate-reducing bacteria).

Healthcare and Medicine：Cold Sterilization: Immersion of heat-sensitive medical, surgical, and dental instruments (e.g., endoscopes, bronchoscopes, laparoscopes).
